Luxury Sherpa Village Hike with Everest Helicopter Tour Itinerary

  • 5:30 – 6:00 AM: Hotel Pickup in Kathmandu: The day begins early at 5:30. Make sure you wake up accordingly and have a light breakfast to energize. Pack your bags, wear appropriate clothes, and wait for the pickup bus to drive you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. Enjoy the VIP lounge at the airport. Please wait for your scheduled flight and board it securely. You will board a private helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla, enjoying sunrise views over the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges.
  • 6:30 – 7:30 AM: Helicopter Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,845 m): You will fly in a private helicopter, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful aerial view of the Himalayas. Lukla Airport is very famous all over the world. It is one of the most dangerous airports. You will land here at around 7:15 AM. The pilot will refuel the engine, and you will set off again at around 7:30 AM.
  • 7:30 – 8:00 AM: Fly Lukla to Everest Base Camp Area, Landing at Kala Patthar (5,545 m). The helicopter will ascend over the Dudh Koshi River valley and fly over Namche Bazaar. You will see the famous Tengboche Monastery and the Sagarmatha National Park’s aerial view.

You will notice a change in the region’s vegetation as you start going up. Above the tree line, it’s all covered in rocky paths and glaciers. You will see the giant peaks of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest.
Finally, you will pass the Everest Base Camp and land on Kala Patthar, a famous regional viewpoint. The high altitude prevents the helicopter from taking off again if the engine is off for a long time.
You will see the panoramic views from Kala Patthar for only about 10 minutes. You will see the Everest Base Camp, the Khumbu Glacier, and the Khumbu Icefall below you. You will also get a view of all the surrounding giant peaks.

  • 8:15 AM: Helicopter Descent to Syangboche (Everest View Hotel, 3,880 m): You will fly again. A short 10-minute descent will land you on Syangboche. Around 8:30, you’ll land at the Everest View Hotel’s helipad in Syangboche for breakfast. You will rest for a more extended period in the Everest View Hotel.
  • 8:30 – 9:30 AM: Hotel Everest View and Breakfast: The Everest View Hotel is famous as one of the highest-altitude hotels in the world. It is a luxurious, premium hotel for luxury-seeking trekkers and hikers.
    You can sit on the open terrace or the dining hall for breakfast. You will dine with the views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and other surrounding peaks.
    The hotel also commemorates the climbers of mountains, and many photos of them are in the gallery. The meal options include local and Western food. Dine according to your preference and rest for a while.
  • 9:30 AM: Begin a Short Hike to Khumjung Village (3,790 m): After breakfast, you walk to the nearby village of Khumjung. Your guide will lead you. The town is just a short walk away, about 20-30 minutes. It lies directly below Syangboche, and the path is pleasant. You will see the extraordinary views of Ama Dablam and Everest. Khumjung is a lush green agricultural village, and this is also called the “Green Village.” The walk is straightforward. You will experience the rich culture of the Sherpa community there.
  • 10:00 – 11:00 AM: Explore Khumjung Village (Sherpa Culture Immersion): You’ll explore Khumjung, a peaceful Sherpa village surrounded by mountains. You’ll visit the local monastery with your guide, where you can see traditional Buddhist art and even a “Yeti scalp” on display. The Hillary School, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, is just a short walk away. You might see kids playing outside or chatting with a teacher if school is in session. You’ll also pass by a small memorial to Hillary. Along the way, you can stop for tea or try some local food.
  • 11:00 AM: Hike Back to Syangboche Helipad: You will return to the Syangboche Helipad after exploring the village. The climb is about 30 minutes long. Stroll, aware of the altitude. You will be back at the Syangboche helipad by late morning.
  • 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Helicopter Flight Back to Kathmandu: You will take off from Syangboche. The helicopter might take a brief stop at Lukla to refuel. You will see the aerial view of the places you just walked on. Enjoy the flight and look at the mountains one last time.
